Role Overview

The Clinical Data Specialist plays a vital role in supporting clinical trial activities within the Iterative Health research network. This position focuses on detailed reviews of electronic health records to identify prospective clinical trial participants, assists with patient recruitment, manages research databases, and ensures accurate documentation throughout the patient pre-screening process. The ideal candidate is meticulous, thrives under fast-paced conditions, and is passionate about leveraging data to drive clinical research forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Examine electronic health records to identify candidates for ongoing clinical studies based on eligibility criteria and study protocols.
  • Develop and update databases tracking potential study participants across multiple research programs.
  • Document all patient pre-screening activities precisely in compliance with regulatory and procedural standards.
  • Collaborate closely with research sites and clinical teams to aid participant recruitment efforts.
  • Support research operations by facilitating data collection, coordinating schedules for patient visits, and maintaining study documentation and tracking tools.
  • Enter data accurately and promptly into clinical research databases and proprietary internal systems.
  • Engage in project meetings and contribute to efforts aimed at improving operational processes.
  • Safeguard protected health information and research data, ensuring strict confidentiality and compliance with company policies, Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines, and regulatory regulations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and quality of all data-related activities and documentation.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive, Gmail), Adobe Acrobat, and various web-based platforms.
  • Adaptability to quickly learn new technologies including Electronic Health Records (EHR), Clinical Trial Management Systems (CTMS), and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic, fast-moving setting.
  • High professional standards regarding discretion and integrity when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in clinical research, healthcare operations, patient recruitment, or data management.
  • Familiarity with clinical research protocols and inclusion/exclusion criteria.
  • Experience with reviewing and interpreting electronic health record data.
  • Understanding of GCP guidelines and clinical research regulations.
  • Exposure to healthcare technology, biotechnology, or startup environments.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce, CTMS, or related research management systems.
