Civil Structural Engineering Lead

Job Overview

We are seeking a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the technical review and assurance of all civil and structural engineering aspects throughout the lifecycle of a Power and Desalination Plant project located in Doha, Qatar. This role demands comprehensive technical expertise to supervise, evaluate, verify, and approve design deliverables related to complex onshore and marine infrastructure for power generation and desalination facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The engineer will ensure the practicality and compliance of designs related to site development, dynamic foundations for equipment, extensive prestressed potable water retaining structures, large drainage and earthworks systems, and electrical yards including switching stations.

Required Experience and Skills

• At least 15 years of professional experience post-graduation, with a minimum of 10 years in power plants, oil & gas, or heavy industrial projects.
• Hands-on experience in plant site development such as roads, earthworks, and complex drainage systems for utility-scale power plants including heavy turbines and generator foundations.
• Expertise in designing large prestressed potable water retaining structures, seawater tanks, and settlement basins.
• Proven competency in nearshore and marine civil infrastructure designs including seawater intakes, brine discharge facilities, nearshore civil works, and coastal protection.
• Ability to define scopes for geotechnical and topographical investigations and analyze related reports.
• Technical support skills during the construction phase of mega-projects with the ability to resolve complex civil and structural engineering issues on-site.
• Experience spanning Concept, Feasibility, FEED, and EPIC project phases.
• Familiarity with US and European civil and structural design codes and standards.
• Strong independent problem-solving capabilities for complex engineering challenges without third-party dependency.
• Demonstrated proficiency in managing time, cost, and quality across multiple simultaneous engineering projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with fluency in English.
• Experience in working effectively within multicultural team environments.

Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Discipline.
• Chartered Engineer accreditation or a postgraduate degree relevant to the field.
