Category Sourcing Expert

Position Overview

Tangent International is seeking a Category Sourcing Expert for a 12-month rolling contract position based in Dublin. This role is central to driving and implementing sourcing strategies to leverage enterprise-wide relationships and attain optimal total value. You will oversee the full sourcing lifecycle, from spend analysis through to supplier performance management, contributing critically to our aim of world-class supply chain excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute comprehensive sourcing strategies including spend analysis, market research, and supplier due diligence.
• Lead RFx activities, including management of requests, bid analysis, and contract negotiation.
• Negotiate commercial terms for new agreements and renewals such as licenses, cloud agreements, statements of work, and order forms.
• Guide internal teams through supplier selection and maintain alignment with organizational policies.
• Collaborate across departments to define requirements, draft RFPs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Coordinate with legal, contract management, tax, and other experts to finalize agreements and ensure compliance.
• Adaptively work across various categories and large supplier bases to satisfy dynamic business needs.
• Perform financial and business data analyses linked to sourcing activities.
• Assess potential suppliers using industry cost models, develop RFx documents, and recommend supplier choices based on total cost of ownership.
• Manage cross-functional teams, lead strategic sourcing initiatives, administer contracts, and oversee supplier performance.
• Lead executive-level contract negotiations to secure favorable costs and service guarantees, fostering enduring supplier partnerships.
• Conduct supplier relationship management for key vendors within assigned categories.
• Handle multiple projects concurrently, liaising with internal stakeholders to secure optimal contractual terms.

Required Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree or demonstrable relevant experience.
• Expertise in project and stakeholder management across complex, multi-geography projects.
• Experience in category sourcing, supplier management, or procurement functions.
• Proven ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
• Competence in leading meetings and conference calls.

Preferred Skills and Certifications

• Background in strategic sourcing and negotiation techniques.
• Strong cost management and analytical skills.
• Familiarity with commercial legal language and contract terminology.
• Experience working within IT or technology procurement categories.
• Professional certifications such as CPSM, CPM, CIPS, CSCP, or Lean Six Sigma.
• Proficiency in Ariba, SAP, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office tools.
