Role Summary

The Car Evaluator will conduct thorough inspections and assessments of cars (both new and pre-owned) for customers, requiring keen attention to detail and mechanical insight. This is a practical position focused on uncovering issues beyond surface appearances, evaluating vehicle performance, and conveying findings professionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed vehicle inspections using the company checklist, examining engine, transmission, suspension, steering, brakes, electrical systems, AC/HVAC, tires, exterior and interior, underbody, engine bay, fluids, and checking for leaks.
• Detect indications of accident repairs, repainting, panel replacements, chassis damage, flood effects, mechanical wear, odometer manipulation, substandard repairs, and poor maintenance.
• Utilize OBD scanning tools to identify and interpret fault codes.
• Conduct road tests to evaluate engine, gearbox, steering, suspension, braking, and noise/vibration/harshness factors.
• Verify vehicle documentation such as service records, invoices, and registration certificates.
• Capture clear photos and videos of notable findings.
• Develop accurate inspection reports including observations and practical recommendations.
• Communicate technical results to customers in accessible language.
• Collaborate with the technical team and management when significant problems arise.
• Travel locally to dealerships, workshops, private sellers, and other sites for inspections.

Candidate Profile

• 2 to 5 years of automotive evaluation, inspection, service, diagnostics, or related experience.
• Solid hands-on know-how of vehicle mechanical systems.
• Ability to perform independent vehicle assessments beyond checklist compliance.
• Expertise in identifying accident repairs, paint defects, and mechanical issues.
• Familiarity with OBD diagnostics and common fault codes.
• Comfortable executing road tests rigorously.
• Effective communicative skills and professional customer interaction.
• Disciplined documentation, including photos and reporting.
• Willingness to conduct local travel for inspections.
• Valid driving licence and competency in driving various cars.

Preferred Background

• Previous roles such as vehicle evaluator, used car inspector, automobile technician, service advisor, diagnostic or workshop technician, quality inspector, or used car buyer/evaluator.
• Experience with premium or luxury automobile segments is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The monthly salary ranges from ₹18,000 to ₹30,000, contingent on experience and skill level, with potential performance bonuses. Benefits include cell phone reimbursement, commuter assistance, and paid leave.

Work Conditions

Employment is on-site in Pune, Maharashtra, with working hours from 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
