Role Overview
We are searching for a passionate Brewer to join our team in Smyrna, GA, at our Stillfire Brewing facility. This role involves full responsibility for the brewing process, including wort production, fermentation, filtration, and quality control. The Brewer will be integral in maintaining cleanliness and safety standards while actively participating in cellar management and packaging operations. Additionally, you will support promotional activities representing Stillfire Brewing.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire brewing process from milling grains to fermentation and filtration.
- Perform routine cleaning and sanitation of tanks, vessels, floors, and general brewhouse and cellar upkeep.
- Oversee cellar tasks such as yeast pitching, monitoring fermentation daily, and dry hopping procedures.
- Strictly follow standard operating procedures and safety guidelines.
- Maintain and improve product quality standards consistently.
- Complete all necessary operational checklists accurately.
- Develop and brew experimental batches for future product releases; prior recipe development experience is advantageous.
- Participate in shift rotations, including early mornings or swing shifts.
- Serve as an ambassador of Stillfire Brewing during promotional events.
- Produce wort on a 20-barrel, three-vessel brewhouse system.
- Conduct cleaning-in-place and sanitation-in-place processes using strong chemical agents safely.
- Handle basic cellar duties: transfers, filtering, fining, dry hopping, carbonating beer, and sensory evaluations.
- Assist in packaging operations, including kegging and canning on Wild Goose equipment.
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as cell counts, pH testing, alcohol by volume (ABV) measurement, and extract quantification.
- Physically able to crouch, stand, and climb rapidly during 8-10 hour shifts in various temperature and confined work environments.
- Uphold chemical hygiene standards while managing chemical handling procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Genuine enthusiasm for beer and brewing processes.
- Minimum of one year of professional brewing or cellar experience.
- High energy and strong attention to detail to thrive in a passionate team environment.
- Physical capability to lift 55-pound grain sacks, maneuver heavy hoses, and manage keg stacking.
- Reliable and able to work independently or collaboratively within a team setting.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings and swing hours.
- Ownership of reliable transportation to and from the brewery.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic communication tools.
- Experience with brewery management software preferred, especially Ekos Brewing Management.
