Role summary

This is a full-time, on-site Baker position in Nairobi County, Kenya. The selected candidate will handle the preparation and production of baked items from start to finish, working to recipe standards and production timelines.

What the role involves

The Baker will measure and scale ingredients, mix doughs and batters, shape products, operate baking machinery, and monitor oven temperatures and bake times. The role also includes finishing baked goods to the required presentation standard, keeping the work area sanitary, following food safety rules, and making sure products are labelled and stored correctly. Reducing wastage, supporting stock checks, and helping with new product or seasonal recipe development may also form part of the work.

Qualifications and experience

Candidates should have practical knowledge of bakery production and baking methods, with experience handling bread making, dough shaping, proofing, and baking to a consistent standard. Familiarity with cookies and similar baked items is also important. The role requires accurate food preparation, strong hygiene awareness, and the ability to work efficiently in a commercial bakery or food production setting. Prior experience as a baker, pastry cook, or in a similar baking role is an added advantage.

Working conditions

The job may require early morning shifts, as well as weekend or holiday work depending on production needs. The work involves standing for long periods, lifting moderate loads, and keeping pace in a busy production environment.
