Job Overview
The Back End Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining server-side applications and APIs using NestJS and TypeScript. This involves ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and security of the services.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clean, well-typed, and structured codebases.
- Architect and implement database schemas, relationships, and queries via TypeORM.
- Create and maintain RESTful APIs and facilitate frontend integration.
- Develop unit and integration tests and actively participate in code reviews.
- Diagnose and resolve production issues while enhancing system performance.
- Contribute to technical documentation and participate in system architecture decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience developing backend applications with demonstrable Node.js projects in production.
- Experience working hands-on with NestJS features including modules, providers, dependency injection, guards, interceptors, and pipes.
- Advanced proficiency in TypeScript covering interfaces, generics, decorators, and writing robust, maintainable code.
- Strong practical knowledge of TypeORM for entity modeling, migration, query building, and transaction management.
- Deep experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL, including schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Proven competence in designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization strategies including JWT, OAuth2, role-based access control, and general API security best practices.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and SOLID principles for creating modular, reusable, and testable code.
- Fluency with Git and collaborative development workflows including pull requests and code reviews.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
- Exposure to GraphQL APIs.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or Redis.
- Basic front-end understanding to ensure smooth collaboration with front-end teams.
- A university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines, or equivalent practical experience.
Additional Information
This opportunity requires working on-site in Abuja, Nigeria. Applicants must either reside in Abuja or be ready to relocate at their own expense prior to starting.
Salary Range: ₦350,000 to ₦600,000 monthly depending on experience.
