Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the DevOps Manager, you will partner with scrum team members to foster and embed a DevOps culture throughout the project. Your focus will be on developing and automating AWS infrastructure while collaborating closely with application teams. Key duties include leading automation efforts, designing and configuring AWS cloud environments, implementing security measures to tackle cybersecurity risks, and establishing monitoring systems to preemptively identify and resolve production issues.
- Architect, build, and configure AWS environments and tools
- Deploy security controls addressing cybersecurity challenges
- Set up monitoring best practices for proactive problem-solving
- Automate configurations across various AWS services
- Support creation and upkeep of CI/CD pipelines triggering automation suites
- Coordinate with other development and Cloud/DevOps engineers
- Configure network connections for testing environments on both mainframe and cloud infrastructure
- Develop and improve infrastructure scripts using CloudFormation and Terraform
- Execute deployment plans encompassing diverse AWS solutions such as EC2 scaling groups and Lambda
- Migrate third-party tools to the cloud with comprehensive unit testing
- Document best practices related to architecture, deployment, and infrastructure support
- Manage AWS resources and native cloud products ensuring 100% operational continuity
- Participate actively in Agile ceremonies
- Communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, to lead troubleshooting sessions and coordinate with stakeholders
Required Experience
- Strong knowledge of AWS core architecture components including Organizations, Account Design, VPCs, subnetting, and segmentation strategies
- Experience monitoring security and operations of EC2 instances, containers, and AWS services
- Working familiarity with CloudFormation templates, Stacks, and Stack Sets
- Understanding of network connectivity solutions such as AWS Direct Connect and Site-to-Site VPNs
- Knowledge of encryption services like AWS KMS
- Experience with logging and monitoring via CloudWatch and CloudTrail
- Hands-on experience with load balancing technologies, particularly F5
- Background in migrating services from AWS Elastic Container Service (ECS) to Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS)
- Experience in Continuous Integration environments incorporating Docker and Kubernetes
- Proficient with version control tools such as GitHub and Bitbucket, plus configuration management tools like Puppet and Ansible
- Competence in backup, upgrade, and patch procedures
- Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint
- Capability in daily system monitoring, maintenance, and operations management to ensure optimal performance
- Experience using operational tools including New Relic, Kibana, Elasticsearch, and performing searches and reporting with Splunk
- Knowledge of build tools like Maven, Gradle, ANT, and Grunt
- Exposure to OpenShift platform
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance
- Must have resided in the United States for at least 3 of the last 5 years
Preferred Experience
- Experience handling Mainframe systems is advantageous
Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
- Over 8 years in application development, maintenance, or administration
- Minimum 4 years managing AWS infrastructure and supporting hosted applications
- At least 4 years working with DevOps tools and monitoring technologies like Splunk, New Relic, and Jenkins
