Position Overview
The Venture Lending & Banking Associate will play a vital role within Stifel’s Venture Banking Team. Responsibilities span portfolio management, deal underwriting, and strategic projects, emphasizing debt structuring, credit underwriting, and presentations to the credit team. This position requires a solid grasp of accounting and financial principles coupled with an eagerness to learn sector and economic trends influencing the technology sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and participate in portfolio analytics and reporting, including tracking pipelines and developing board materials.
- Gain a thorough understanding of various debt instruments and their suitability for different business profiles.
- Contribute to deal processes by collecting and reviewing due diligence, preparing underwriting packages, and assisting with credit presentations and legal documentation.
- Monitor borrower portfolios to ensure adherence to loan covenants and regularly report compliance status to leadership.
- Represent Stifel at industry events and networking opportunities to build professional connections.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related business field is mandatory.
- At least one year of experience in commercial banking, investment banking, or private capital investing.
- Proficient knowledge of economic and accounting principles, financial markets, and financial data analysis and reporting.
- Strong logical reasoning skills to evaluate solutions and approaches critically.
- Effective written communication tailored to audience needs.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual salary ranges from USD 90,000 to USD 120,000 based on candidate qualifications and competencies. Additional compensation includes discretionary bonuses.
