Position Overview

We are inviting applications for the role of Assistant Quantity Surveyor to become part of our commercial team. This position provides an excellent platform to gain hands-on experience across all facets of commercial management within a prominent construction firm.

Key Duties

• Support procurement through take-offs, preparing tender documentation, issuing enquiries, and tracking responses.
• Maintain and enhance subcontractor and supplier databases.
• Analyze tender submissions against project scope, drawings, and technical specifications.
• Prepare tender comparisons and identify gaps, exclusions, and commercial risks.
• Facilitate procurement and contracting processes for subcontractors and consultants, ensuring all contractual documents are in place prior to work commencement.
• Monitor adherence to company procurement policies.
• Assist in preparing monthly client valuations and applications, assess payment claims from subcontractors and consultants, and support payment certification and processing, including SAP uploads.
• Maintain accurate records related to valuations, payments, and commercial correspondence.
• Support preparation of monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports, cashflow forecasting, cost reporting, and commercial reviews, adhering to reporting deadlines.
• Manage commercial documentation on SharePoint, including variation registers, assessments, and certifications.
• Help with project variation management, change control, and dispute resolution, compiling necessary supporting documentation.
• Identify value engineering opportunities and assist material procurement to optimize value and schedule compliance.
• Assist estimating team with tender-related tasks such as measurements, enquiries, quotations analysis, and tender evaluations.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Higher Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related field.
• At least four years' experience in Quantity Surveying or an equivalent assistant role within construction.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methodologies, and commercial management best practices.
• Strong proficiency in numerical analysis, problem solving, and Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with SAP or similar commercial management platforms is advantageous.
• Exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
