Primary Duties

  • Oversee and process all license applications and related data handled by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH).
  • Manage daily functions of the Intake unit effectively.
  • Serve as a coordinator between DOHMH and other relevant agencies or partners to fulfill licensing mandates.
  • Supervise team members by assigning tasks, monitoring productivity, conducting training, and providing guidance to ensure efficient performance.
  • Create, document, and enforce internal systems, policies, and procedures to streamline operations, address database challenges, and enhance division performance.
  • Conduct routine mathematical calculations to manage payment processing, closing out transactions, and related activities.
  • Verify records for accuracy and compliance with established policies and standards.
  • Provide backup support for other supervisors and units as necessary.
  • Perform complex system searches, quality check documentation and data entry both for personal work and the unit’s output.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be permanent civil service employees in the relevant or comparable civil service titles (under rule 6.1.9), eligible for the 55a program, or reachable on the civil service eligibility list.

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution plus at least three years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, including one year in an administrative or supervisory role.
  • Alternatively, associate degree or 60 semester credits and four years clerical/administrative experience with one year supervisory experience.
  • Or a high school diploma (or equivalent) with five years of related experience including one year in an administrative supervisory capacity.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable provided the supervisory experience criteria are met.
