Job description
Role Overview
Our Finance team plays a critical role beyond just handling figures; it involves gathering essential data that drives business decisions and underpins our commercial success. Finance is pivotal to our ongoing achievement and performance, making this role impactful and rewarding. As an Assistant Accountant reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the finance team in managing and reporting divisional financial performance aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Uphold and promote the Group’s values, policies, systems, and procedures in all activities.
- Support the finance team to meet all financial deadlines and schedules.
- Take charge of overhead costs, ensuring accurate coding and allocation.
- Oversee the Group balance sheet submission process, including completing reconciliations and reviewing with Finance Manager and Finance Director.
- Assist in creating accurate forecasts and planning as required.
- Manage the quarterly and annual Corporate Sustainability Questionnaire by accurately collecting and recording required data.
- Serve as a liaison for the finance shared service centre, providing support and guidance when necessary.
- Help prepare relevant reports for the Managing Director and Divisional board.
Required Qualifications and Attributes
- Part-qualified accountant currently studying, with experience in a commercial accounting environment; experience in house-building sector preferred.
- Strong collaborator with determination to meet business objectives.
- Excellent numerical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis, capable of interpreting data and its business impact.
- Ability to not only compile data but also explain results and provide insights to non-finance colleagues.
- Effective planning and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to offer professional business management opinions.
- Self-assured, decisive, resilient, and thrives under pressure in a dynamic setting.
