Role Overview

The position of Assessor is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Leeds. The primary responsibility is to evaluate and mark student assignments and assessments to ensure they meet specific learning objectives and quality benchmarks. The role includes providing clear and constructive feedback to facilitate student academic advancement. Additional duties encompass maintaining meticulous assessment records, moderating results when needed, and ensuring compliance with both institutional and awarding body standards. The Assessor will collaborate with academic staff to enhance assessment criteria, engage in curriculum development conversations, contribute to continuous teaching improvements, attend standardization sessions, respond to student assessment queries, and maintain high standards of academic integrity and quality assurance.

Qualifications and Skills Required

• Proven expertise in business or related fields with the aptitude to fairly assess undergraduate and postgraduate-level work.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret marking schemes, expected learning outcomes, and academic quality standards effectively.
• Excellent written communication to deliver precise and actionable feedback and create thorough assessment documentation.
• High attention to detail and organizational skills to manage grading tasks, timelines, and record keeping efficiently.
• Experience with academic quality assurance including moderation, standardization, and adherence to awarding body policies.
• Competency in using digital learning platforms and standard office software for grading and reporting purposes.
• Collaborative approach and interpersonal abilities to work well with tutors, academic personnel, and support teams.
• Dedication to learner-focused education principles, inclusive practices, and supporting diverse student backgrounds equitably.
• A relevant degree in Business, Education, or closely associated subject; professional assessor or teaching certifications such as TAQA or PGCE are highly valuable.
• Previous assessment or teaching experience in higher or further education, preferably within pathway or business-related programs.
