Role Overview
The Art Handling Technician's main duty is to manage artworks and related materials carefully during handling, packing, unpacking, installation, and de-installation processes. This full-time onsite position in Doha involves prepping artworks for transportation, conducting condition assessments, and ensuring all documentation and labeling are accurate. Close cooperation with logistics teams is essential for coordinating shipment timelines. The role also supports customs procedures and inventory management in storage spaces, using appropriate tools and materials to maintain tidy and secure environments while adhering to strict safety and conservation standards. Occasionally, work may occur at client locations, galleries, or exhibition venues, requiring meticulous attention to detail and compliance with company protocols.
Key Qualifications and Requirements
- Proven experience in art handling including packing, crating, installation, and de-installation with the correct materials and techniques.
- Understanding of artwork preservation, basic conservation, and safe handling methods for fragile and valuable items.
- Knowledge of logistics related to art shipments, coordinating with transport teams, and familiarity with customs and documentation processes.
- Strong organizational capabilities to effectively manage inventory, accurately track items, and maintain proper records and labels.
- Competency in safely using hand tools and equipment, manual handling proficiency, and compliance with health and safety protocols.
- Good communication skills to interact professionally with internal teams, clients, and external partners.
- High attention to detail, dependability, and integrity, with flexibility to work on-site in Doha and sometimes outside normal hours.
- Experience working in museums, galleries, or art logistics is desirable; vocational training or relevant certification in logistics, arts, or handling is advantageous.
- Preference for Filipino nationals holding a valid QID and transferable visa.
- 2 to 3 years of related experience in art handling roles.
