Role Overview and Responsibilities

• Lead and promote strong technology practices and engineering excellence within your team, shouldering significant ownership of systems and their broader impact across Flipkart's ecosystem.
• Contribute actively to development, dedicating around 75% of your time to creating robust modules and systems that embody best practices, participate in code and design reviews, and engage deeply in architecture discussions.
• Oversee and improve scaling, performance, and quality metrics of your team’s deliverables.
• Establish and drive the adoption of best practices related to coding, design, quality, and performance to elevate team capabilities.
• Explore and integrate new technologies and tools, assessing their impact and encouraging their use where beneficial.
• Implement and uphold the long-term technological vision tailored for your team’s success.
• Design and maintain product architecture aligned with strategic goals and functional requirements.
• Act as an active contributor in both internal technology forums and external industry platforms representing Flipkart.
• Devise innovative architectures and solutions addressing both current and emerging challenges.
• Lead technology and tool selection decisions, taking full responsibility for them within your team.

Qualifications and Experience

• A minimum of 12 years of professional experience in software engineering roles.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities aimed at complex, large-scale challenges.
• Broad technical exposure across diverse problem domains and technologies.
• Strong expertise in system design and object-oriented programming, with skill in developing clean interfaces and maintaining proper abstraction levels.
• Proficient coding capabilities and experience leading extensive refactoring efforts to uplift coding standards in large codebases.
• In-depth understanding of various multitier architectures, including an awareness of common pitfalls and suitable applications.
• Experience with high-performance, web-scale systems and real-time response architectures.
• Familiarity with large-scale persistent storage systems, including substantial databases.
• Participation in full product lifecycle development encompassing initial creation, production deployment, scalability, requirement evolution, and architectural redesigns, especially involving large data or transaction volumes for over three years.
• Strong mentorship skills to guide and develop your engineering team.
• Ability to perform effectively in ambiguous, undefined work environments.
