Role Overview

Join Jacobs as an Archaeologist and contribute to delivering archaeological and heritage-related services on diverse infrastructure projects. You will oversee mitigation efforts, offer expert technical input, support environmental impact assessments, and ensure heritage concerns are seamlessly integrated into project planning and execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Support assessments, documentation, and data recording related to archaeology and heritage.
• Provide archaeological and cultural heritage supervision on-site during construction to ensure adherence to professional and contractual standards and regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct Desk Based Assessments (DBAs) and heritage evaluations to aid planning, environmental studies, and project development.
• Perform site visits, walkover surveys, and consult archives and topographic files.
• Contribute to the preparation of Cultural Heritage sections in Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), including impact and mitigation analyses, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
• Review and assure the quality of archaeological field outputs such as excavation reports and surveys, maintaining alignment with internal and regulatory standards.
• Integrate and interpret data from multiple sources including GIS, historical records, and prior investigations to inform project assessments.
• Collaborate closely with teams from various disciplines involved in infrastructure projects.
• Provide occasional support to UK-based counterparts.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• A degree in Archaeology, Heritage Management, or a closely related area.
• Demonstrable professional experience in commercial archaeology, consultancy, or heritage assessment.
• Proficiency in archaeological fieldwork and report preparation.
• Familiarity with Irish heritage and planning legislation.
• Willingness and ability to travel for site duties across Ireland and sporadically to the UK.
• Strong skills in report writing, analysis, organization, and teamwork.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary environments managing various priorities.
• Membership or progression towards membership of a relevant professional organization such as IAI or CIfA.
• Competence with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial data analysis.
