Job description
About the Company
This innovative, rapidly expanding deep-tech startup is focused on advancing artificial intelligence for robotics applications. Their primary goal is to reshape industrial automation by developing smart, adaptive AI-driven software capable of controlling intricate physical machinery. Joining this company means directly contributing to the transformation of virtual AI code into real-time mechanical motion within the tangible world.
Position Overview
The Applied AI Scientist (Robotics) acts as a crucial link between machine learning models and their real-world robotic applications. The role requires excelling in a dynamic, iterative environment where swift adaptation enables immediate deployment of AI solutions onto hardware systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and refine machine learning models (such as reinforcement learning and behavior cloning) to enhance robotic dexterity, then implement these models on actual machines.
- Maintain and oversee all stages of the AI development lifecycle, covering sensor data processing, GPU-based training workflows, and extensive experiment tracking.
- Transition AI models from simulated platforms to real robots by collecting physical environment data, resolving edge cases, and applying advanced sim-to-real techniques.
- Develop internal tools to facilitate data analysis, and collaborate with hardware and systems engineering teams to deliver robust, real-world automation solutions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related discipline is mandatory; a master’s or doctorate provides a competitive advantage, although equivalent professional experience is considered equally important.
- Proficiency in programming, with in-depth knowledge of contemporary deep learning frameworks, particularly PyTorch.
- Demonstrated experience in training AI agents, policy optimization, and implementing neural control architectures.
- Documented background in successfully transferring machine learning algorithms from simulated settings to operational hardware.
Desirable Additional Experience
- Exposure to large, multimodal foundational models designed for physical agents, such as those integrating vision, language, and action or generating video outputs.
- Academic contributions or published work in recognized AI/Robotics forums such as ICRA, IROS, NeurIPS, or CVPR.
