About the Role
We invite a dedicated Application Support Engineer to join the Finance Systems Services team at Westpac New Zealand. In this position, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability and effectiveness of platforms that support the bank's Treasury, Balance Sheet Risk, and Securitisation operations. Your role will involve maintaining a robust, high-performance computing environment critical to key financial operations.
Working within an Agile squad, you will collaborate with engineering teams across New Zealand and Australia, along with technology partners and business stakeholders, to provide secure, reliable, and efficient services. You will engage with a diverse technology stack, including Control-M, DevOps tools, data platforms, reporting solutions, and monitoring systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee management and monitoring of Control-M batch schedules and workflows to ensure uninterrupted processing and operational reliability.
- Maintain and optimize critical business applications and platform services.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents while identifying improvement opportunities.
- Support deployment pipelines and automation utilizing Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, and Jenkins.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure outstanding service delivery.
- Assist with reporting and enhancement on Power BI and related platforms.
- Contribute to platform strategy, bolstering operational resilience, security, and compliance.
- Participate in an on-call support roster and occasionally provide weekend support during planned activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Practical experience with Control-M or comparable tools for scheduling and managing batch jobs and workflows.
- Familiarity supporting enterprise applications within Microsoft environments, including SQL troubleshooting capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude to diagnose production issues effectively.
- Experience working with SQL, Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, Jenkins, Power BI, Splunk, Dynatrace, PagerDuty, or similar technologies.
- Knowledge of IT Service Management (ITSM) practices such as Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Experience collaborating in Agile environments with diverse technical and business teams.
