Role Summary
The Analytical Sciences team is seeking a motivated and independent Analytical Biochemist or Biologist at the Research Associate level to support gene therapy and enzyme replacement therapy initiatives. Candidates should be critical thinkers with experience operating in dynamic, multidisciplinary settings and possess strong communication aptitude.
Responsibilities
- Conduct product testing to assist Drug Substance and Drug Product process development teams.
- Perform specialized, non-routine analysis of in-process and final product samples for critical projects.
- Utilize analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, CE, FTIR, and plate-based assays to assess therapeutic candidates.
- Maintain meticulous documentation of test outcomes in alignment with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and company standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with teams across Drug Substance Technologies, Drug Product Device Technologies, Manufacturing, and Quality departments.
- Analyse data quantitatively and interpret experimental findings clearly.
- Deliver concise oral presentations during departmental meetings.
- Report weekly progress to management on each assigned program.
- Develop and document experimental plans and results; proactively share findings with supervisors and collaborators; regularly present data at group meetings.
- Organize and store data and reports electronically to ensure ease of access during inspections.
Required Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of GMP, GLP, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Understanding of protein chemistry, biological functions, and bioassay methodologies.
- Experience with cell culture procedures and protein expression and activity monitoring techniques.
- Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal, with teamwork skills.
- Competence in data analysis, scientific interpretation, and effective scientific writing.
- Adaptable and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Expertise in method troubleshooting, qualification procedures, and method transfer processes.
- Familiarity with biopharmaceutical development processes is advantageous.
Education & Experience
- Research Associate 1: Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with minimum 2 years relevant experience, or 1 year experience with a Master’s degree. Title varies with experience.
- Research Associate 2: Bachelor's degree in biological sciences with at least 3 years relevant experience, or 2 years with a Master’s degree. Title corresponds to experience.
Equipment Experience
- Proficient in operating standard laboratory instruments used in biochemistry and cellular assay analysis.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of Analytical Services.
