Position Overview
Cornell College seeks an Academic Technology Specialist to provide consulting and instructional support related to academic technology for both students and faculty. This full-time role spans 10 months, from July 1 through April 30 annually. The specialist will also manage and train peer consultants, co-teach technology-integrated courses, and serve as a primary resource for curriculum development with an emphasis on generative AI applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Consult faculty on integrating instructional technology into curricula, assess new academic technology for pedagogical fit and cost effectiveness, and coordinate with IT on infrastructure impacts.
- Work collaboratively with librarians and teaching staff on technology use for curriculum and support digital humanities and archival projects.
- Teach technology resources to individuals and groups, emphasizing generative AI in classroom instruction.
- Recruit, train, and oversee peer consultants supporting the Academic Technology Studio.
- Encourage faculty dialogue on current technology integrations and their educational impact.
- Develop, propose, and promote policies guiding the Academic Technology Studio.
- Participate in educational meetings, workshops, courses, and serve on committees related to academic technology.
- Provide daily assistance with discipline-specific software such as Moodle, Adobe Creative Suite, and academic web projects integration.
- Advise faculty and students on digital copyright issues, including fair use, in partnership with library and teaching center directors.
- Carry out other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this 10-month role is $39,000 to $45,000. Benefits include health, dental, vision coverage, health and flexible spending accounts, retirement plan (TIAA 403(b)), tuition remission and exchange programs, life, disability, travel, and accident insurance. Full-time 10-month staff accrue 3 weeks of vacation and receive 13.5 paid holidays annually.
