Role Summary
As a key member of the engineering team reporting to the Production Manager, the Welder/Fabricator will be responsible for executing various vehicle conversions to exacting standards with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. This role involves preparation, welding, and refitting components to meet job specifications and quality targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive vehicles and perform pre-work inspections including paperwork management.
- Interpret and follow customer job specifications and technical drawings precisely.
- Complete welding and fabrication tasks within allocated timeframes while ensuring excellent quality.
- Identify, remove, and refit vehicle and electrical components to prepare vehicles for welding.
- Use tools such as angle grinders, metal saws, and induction heaters for vehicle preparation.
- Position new parts accurately in readiness for welding operations.
- Perform MIG welding on light gauge metal components.
- Clean, seal, and reinstall parts to prepare vehicles for further assembly stages.
- Complete and sign all required documentation.
- Adapt to a variety of tasks as directed by management to meet organizational needs.
Candidate Profile
- Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship.
- Minimum of 1-2 years welding and fabrication experience in a similar setting.
- Good education background including GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
- Ability to understand and utilize technical information and drawings.
- Self-driven with strong communication skills.
- Team-oriented and willing to support colleagues.
- Motivated to continuously improve skills and learn new techniques.
- Possession of a full valid driving licence.
Desired Qualifications and Experience
- Formal welding qualifications such as City and Guilds or BTEC.
- Relevant auto-electric experience and certifications are a plus but not essential.
