Role Overview
Barton & Gray Mariners Club, founded in 2006, is looking for USCG Master Captains for Summer 2026. The club is known for luxury on-water experiences across 33 harbors, and this position is central to delivering those outings with a polished mix of seamanship and high-end guest service.
About the Working Environment
This role offers time on the water along with the ability to enjoy personal time on land. Captains support a distinctive team culture in the yachting space. Operating seasons run from May to October in the Northeast and from November to April in the Southern harbors, with limited winter availability.

- Delivering trips that are safe, refined, and memorable on a consistent basis
- Providing hospitality at a consistently high standard and showing strong commitment to service
- Representing the club professionally both aboard and dockside
- Creating tailored experiences by engaging well with members
- Working cooperatively across departments and sharing updates proactively to keep operations running smoothly
Key Responsibilities
- Operate club vessels safely while creating exceptional guest experiences
- Engage with members, understand their preferences, and adapt outings accordingly
- Coordinate closely with mechanical and harbor support teams to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain strong standards for safety, conduct, and presentation at all times
- Complete expense records and post-trip reports accurately and on time
Requirements
- Current USCG Master Captain license with Near Coastal endorsement
- Valid USCG medical certificate
- Marine Radio Operator Permit
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Substantial experience operating vessels of a comparable size
- Working knowledge of basic vessel maintenance and logkeeping
- Strong verbal communication and people skills
Compensation and Benefits
The stated compensation rate is 60,000.
