You will adapt delivery methodologies, including agile, waterfall, and hybrids, to suit project contexts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop business cases and maintain detailed cost plans.
  • Manage project scope, timelines, budgets; monitor progress and enact necessary corrections.
  • Ensure projects follow approved methodologies and value tracking procedures.
  • Facilitate agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Work with Product Managers to articulate and prioritize epics and user stories effectively.
  • Track and communicate progress through metrics, weekly reports, and monthly business reviews.
  • Promote iterative delivery, lean/agile practices, and continuous improvement across projects.
  • Lead full lifecycle delivery for assigned projects, balancing value and feasibility constraints.
  • Lead project initiations and ensure all delivery documentation is complete and accessible.
  • Act as primary liaison for stakeholders spanning business, technology, product, and design functions.
  • Maintain alignment and transparency via structured communication channels.
  • Manage and resolve project-level priority conflicts; escalate when additional support is required.
  • Identify and manage risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies; drive risk mitigation actions and escalate as needed.
  • Collaborate with peers and Programme Managers on cross-domain dependencies.
  • Provide matrix leadership to delivery team members, fostering a collaborative and trusting team environment.
  • Facilitate workshops and problem-solving sessions to remove obstacles impacting delivery.
  • Ensure knowledge transfer into the domain after successful project completion.
  • Proactively secure resources required for delivery and escalate any resource constraints.
  • Continuously drive process excellence and delivery practice maturity within projects and the wider community.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record delivering software projects in fast-paced agile environments.
  • Experience managing projects through their full delivery lifecycle.
  • Competence with agile/scrum frameworks, including facilitation of ceremonies.
  • Knowledge of project governance elements including scope, schedule, budget, RAID logs, and reporting.
  • Expertise in change management techniques and appropriate tool usage.
  • Proficiency with project tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Kanban boards.
  • Strong ability to build team trust, encourage collaboration, and resolve problems effectively.
  • Highly effective communicator, able to engage stakeholders across various levels with confidence.
  • Commercial acumen and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Positive problem-solving attitude and resilience in overcoming challenges.
  • Situational awareness with timely escalation of issues when necessary.
  • Understanding of software development processes and iterative delivery methodologies.

Preferred Additional Experience

  • Experience facilitating project inception or discovery phases.
  • Familiarity with academic publishing or digital content production workflows.
  • Experience working with distributed or third-party development teams.
