About the role
This leadership role is responsible for guiding several R&D teams building a suite of enterprise-class and cloud-scale products. The ideal candidate is an experienced R&D leader who enjoys creating and running cloud-native, highly distributed systems used by millions of users in a SaaS environment, with strong command over agile delivery and the ability to drive a high-performing engineering organization.
What you will do
- Lead engineering teams made up of development and QA professionals, while handling people-related responsibilities such as hiring, performance reviews, mentoring, and promotions.
- Take ownership of the design, development, and release of the components assigned to your team.
- Partner with the Product Owner and Software Architect to plan product development work.
- Serve as Scrum Master for the engineering team.
- Work with the scrum team to encourage effective engineering practices and continuous improvement.
- Stay hands-on with development work, review code, and help maintain strong engineering and quality standards, including test automation and unit testing.
- Contribute to leadership discussions around release planning and product direction.
- Act as the engineering point of contact for product defect handling and support-related questions.
Who you should be

Required background
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or an equivalent qualification.
- At least 3 years of experience leading software engineers on enterprise products.
- 13+ years of software engineering experience, with strong hands-on exposure to Java.
- Confirmed success in delivering software projects on schedule and within budget.
- Solid technical foundation in software development.
- Strong leadership capabilities, including coaching, motivating, and guiding teams.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Ability to influence others effectively, including in sensitive or complicated situations.
- Strong initiative and a proactive, can-do approach to problem solving.
- Comfort working in a matrixed organization.
- Experience operating in global teams and environments.
- Proven experience working with Agile/Scrum teams and iterative delivery practices.
- Experience in product companies building enterprise software is mandatory.
AI-first expectations
- Comfort with LLM fundamentals such as prompting, retrieval-augmented generation, embeddings, and hallucination control.
- Understanding of the ML lifecycle, including training, deployment, and monitoring.
- Working knowledge of NLP concepts like intent detection, summarization, and sentiment analysis.
- Ability to think through AI system design, including human-in-the-loop workflows and guardrails.
Leadership with technical depth
- Lead design discussions and technical decision-making.
- Coach engineers on AI topics and system design.
- Balance delivery priorities with innovation goals.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders effectively.
- Translate business problems into AI-driven technical solutions.
