Position Overview

The Team Lead Operations Import/Export holds the responsibility for guiding a team of freight forwarding experts to ensure the seamless handling of international import and export shipments. This role emphasizes achieving operational excellence, maximizing customer satisfaction, enhancing process efficiency, facilitating team growth, and adhering to industry and company regulations.

Key Duties

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to a team comprising Import/Export Operators and Customer Service Specialists.
• Manage the comprehensive coordination of international shipments via air, ocean, and road freight modes.
• Maintain top-tier service quality, optimize operational workflows, and ensure regulatory and internal compliance.
• Track shipment progress diligently and address any operational issues or customer complaints proactively.
• Allocate workload effectively and plan resources within the team efficiently.
• Foster robust relationships with customers, freight carriers, agents, and internal teams.
• Initiate and promote continuous process improvements to boost operational outcomes and service standards.
• Assist in the adoption of new procedures, systems, and industry best practices.
• Review operational KPIs regularly and take corrective steps when necessary.
• Contribute actively to meeting broader departmental and organizational goals.

Experience and Qualifications

• Multiple years of experience in Freight Forwarding Operations focused on imports and/or exports.
• Prior roles involving team leadership, supervision, or senior operations management.
• Comprehensive understanding of international freight forwarding, customs formalities, and transportation laws.
• Skilled in managing customer interactions and resolving operational escalations.
• Strong organizational capabilities coupled with effective problem-solving aptitude.
• Leadership experience with a proactive management approach.
• Familiarity with freight forwarding software such as CargoWise or similar Transport Management Systems.
• Awareness of process enhancement strategies and operational best practices.
• Capable of thriving in a dynamic, global environment.
• Excellent communication and leadership competencies.
• Fluency in English is required; knowledge of additional languages is advantageous.
