The MCA Sustainability Services team supports organizations throughout the Middle East, Caspian, and Africa in measuring, verifying, and enhancing their environmental and social impact. Within this, the CER Certification product line stands as the fastest-growing sustainability sector in the region, delivering services including GHG verification, carbon accounting, ESG assurance, advisory, social audits, and supply chain due diligence.
Role Overview
The Sustainability Specialist operates locally as a technical and commercial lead for Bureau Veritas’ CER sustainability services. Two roles are available: one based in Cairo, Egypt, and the other in Doha, Qatar. Reporting to both the local head of CER and the MCA Director of Sustainability, the Specialist is the primary local representative for sustainability certification services. Responsibilities include client advisory delivery, proposal leadership, pipeline development, and enhancing the Bureau Veritas brand within sustainability communities. This role involves client engagement and direct delivery in carbon advisory, ESG reporting, assurance, and related domains.
Key Responsibilities

- Manage CBAM exposure assessments, supply chain ESG due diligence, IFRS S2 readiness, EcoVadis score improvements, and conduct GHG verification audits in line with BV's methodologies and global standards.
- Generate detailed technical reports, advisory frameworks, gap analyses, and presentations for clients.
- Work closely with regional peers for quality assurance and technical oversight.
- Keep abreast of local regulatory changes related to ESG disclosures, CBAM, and climate-related financial reporting.
- Lead or co-lead preparation of commercial proposals, RFP responses, and client presentations for CER sustainability services.
- Develop and manage a local sales pipeline in sustainability advisory, assurance, social audits, and supply chain services; contribute to regional business development efforts.
- Establish and nurture partnerships with law firms, financial advisors, sustainability consultancies, and industry groups to generate referrals.
- Serve as the primary contact for CER sustainability clients, overseeing end-to-end project delivery, reporting, and billing.
- Coordinate with local regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, and government entities concerning sustainability certifications.
- Represent Bureau Veritas at local sustainability-related events, forums, and conferences.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, prepare country performance reports, and ensure compliance with BV’s quality and accreditation standards.
- Contribute content for proposal libraries and participate in training and communication initiatives within the MCA sustainability team.
Qualifications
- Four to six years’ experience in sustainability consulting, ESG advisory, GHG verification, or related certification services within Egypt, Qatar, or the wider MENA area.
- Strong expertise in GHG accounting and verification standards (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol), carbon footprint methodologies, ESG frameworks (GRI, ISSB/IFRS S2, ESRS, CDP, TCFD), and sustainability assurance (ISAE 3000, ISSA 5000).
