Role overview
Tesla is seeking a driven Capital Equipment Supply Chain Manager to support global Manufacturing and Engineering teams. The role focuses on sourcing powertrain manufacturing equipment and electronics test equipment for both ongoing and upcoming programs. It is a fast-moving environment where flexibility and strong execution are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Own RFQ activity and contract workflows, including negotiation and documentation of NDAs and commercial terms.
- Partner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to shortlist qualified suppliers, apply sourcing best practices, and recommend vendors based on quotation reviews.
- Develop productive supplier partnerships that support supply continuity, quality, cost, and delivery targets.
- Step in early on projects to improve outcomes, handle escalations, and make sure suppliers follow Tesla’s technical requirements and timelines.
- Negotiate commercial pricing and contract terms, raise purchase orders, and assist with cost control and engineering change support.
- Grow technical understanding of manufacturing methods, relevant technologies, and the supply base for assigned sub-systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or comparable practical experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in commercial relations, sourcing, procurement, or program management.
- Working knowledge of legal contracts and business agreements.
- Strong capability in should-cost modeling, supplier proposal evaluation, and manufacturing cost breakdowns.
- Excellent communication skills for discussions with senior supplier stakeholders and for resolving project-level conflicts.
- Comfortable using Excel, Microsoft Office, and ERP/MRP purchasing tools.
- Able to work independently while collaborating closely with engineers and supply chain partners.
- Open to travel up to 25%.
