Student Support Assistant

Role Overview

We are seeking motivated and dependable Student Support Assistants to join a government sector client across multiple locations in the UAE including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, Al Ain, Ajman, and Khor Fakkan. This position involves providing essential classroom, behavioral, and physical support to Students of Determination to foster a secure, inclusive, and encouraging educational atmosphere where students can thrive academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities

• Support teachers with the implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Adapt teaching resources as needed under supervision to meet the specific needs of students.
• Assist students in engaging with daily lessons and classroom activities.
• Promote autonomous learning and active participation within the classroom.
• Escort students during transitions such as moving between classes, breaks, and transportation.
• Provide assistance with physical mobility, positioning, and use of adaptive devices.
• Help with personal care tasks including hygiene and feeding when necessary.
• Ensure student safety by managing potential physical hazards proactively.
• Apply behavior management strategies and positive interventions effectively.
• Manage challenging behavior calmly, patiently, and compassionately.
• Encourage social development and friendships among peers during school hours.
• Offer emotional support to enhance students’ self-confidence.
• Maintain clear and effective English communication with teachers, therapists, students, and families.
• Work collaboratively each day with educators, therapists, and special education teams.
• Accurately document student progress, incidents, and accomplishments on a daily basis.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum educational attainment of a high school diploma or higher.
• At least one year of relevant experience in roles such as Shadow Teacher, Teaching Assistant, Caregiver, Nursery Assistant, or Special Needs Support.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken, for effective communication.
• Good physical and medical fitness to assist with mobility and maintain safety.
• Possess qualities of patience, empathy, caring nature, and resilience.
