Storeman - Workshop

Overview

This role involves managing the complete flow of goods in the spare parts store, including receiving, storing, issuing, and accurately recording inventory. The position entails maintaining proper documentation and ensuring efficient inventory control in a workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Keep bin cards updated immediately upon issuing or supplying spare parts, ensuring physical stock matches system records.
• Use correct documentation methods for goods receiving and issuing processes.
• Uphold excellent warehousing standards and practices within the store.
• Manage warehousing tasks such as receiving, identifying, handling, storing, issuing, and delivering spare parts.
• Process job orders daily using Instanta software.
• Verify that stock serial numbers in the system align with physical stock received and issued.
• Determine appropriate storage locations and communicate bin allocations to store officers.
• Report promptly any stock issues such as damages or warehouse conditions like roof leaks.
• Conduct spot checks on inventory, verify record accuracy, and ensure proper storage conditions are met.
• Organize the warehouse layout to optimize space utilization for current stock.
• Monitor stock reorder levels and ensure timely replenishment.
• Maintain safety protocols and work methods within the warehouse environment.
• Perform housekeeping duties to ensure warehouse cleanliness, safety, and security.
• Coordinate inventory cycle counts by updating statuses of slow-moving and fast-moving parts.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and periodic store counts for all parts.
• Keep thorough documentation of all work orders.
• Adhere to company health and safety policies.
• Engage and coordinate with technical buyers, vendors, and workshop teams.
• Submit monthly reports detailing all posted job orders.
• Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the head of unit or department head.

Qualifications and Experience

• ND qualification in Accounting or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in inventory management.
• Proven knowledge of complete inventory control processes.
• Competence in customer relationship management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
