Role Summary

The Steel Fabricator role is a full-time, on-site position based at Coastal Metals Ltd. in Beresford, NB. Responsibilities include interpreting fabrication drawings and specifications, accurately measuring and cutting steel components, assisting in fitting and welding tasks, and assembling structural parts. Tasks involve use of hand and power tools for cutting, grinding, finishing, and preparing steel for subsequent blasting and painting stages. Safe handling and movement of materials using equipment such as forklifts are essential. Collaboration with production teams to meet deadlines and uphold quality standards, maintaining a tidy work environment, and observing all safety protocols are core to this role. Continuous process improvement contributions are encouraged.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Proficient metalworking abilities including measuring, cutting, and fabrication of steel parts.
• Experienced in using hand and power tools relevant to steel fabrication tasks.
• Skilled in grinding and finishing steel surfaces to meet tolerance requirements.
• Certified or experienced in safe operation of forklifts or similar material handling machinery.
• Adept at reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
• Basic knowledge of welding techniques and ensuring safety around welding operations.
• Strong understanding of workshop safety practices, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and compliance with safety regulations.
• Detail oriented with good manual dexterity and stamina to work in physically demanding environments.
• Previous work experience in steel fabrication or industrial manufacturing is advantageous.
• Minimum educational requirement: high school diploma or equivalent; trade or technical training in metal fabrication preferred.
