Sr. Process Engineer (Ops Eng)

Role Summary

This position is responsible for supporting day-to-day process optimisation across process and utility systems, with the goal of keeping production on target and ensuring product quality remains within specification. The role also involves recommending corrective actions when operating conditions drift, reviewing chemical performance through structured assessment, and exploring improved chemical solutions in coordination with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor the performance of process and utility equipment on a daily basis and advise operations teams when deviations arise.
• Evaluate chemical efficiency through systematic checks and work with chemical vendors to identify improved options.
• Lead Panel Review Meetings for all Technical MoC submissions and screen process-improvement proposals to determine whether they should be pursued as an in-house Dukhan Operations project, RES, or a Project Initiation Note for VP project.
• Draft the Project Initiation Note Statement of Requirement and ensure it fully reflects the project needs while remaining compliant with VP procedures, QatarEnergy requirements, Shell DEP standards, and other approved specifications.
• Check existing facilities for optimisation opportunities and identify constraints, bottlenecks, or reliability limitations using recognised process optimisation practices.
• Assess and recommend technology alternatives for feasibility and concept-optimisation work aligned with business objectives.
• For externally executed studies, provide technical inputs, review outputs, and assess deliverables.
• Review proven and emerging processes or technologies for operations, maintenance, or HSE enhancements through projects and field trials when needed.
• Support FEED and EPIC projects from a process engineering perspective.
• Prepare and review engineering documents including HMBs, PFDs, P&IDs, datasheets, process descriptions, and line lists for process and utility systems.
• Define and review operating and integrity envelope philosophies for process and utility systems across normal operation, transients such as start-up, shutdown and upset conditions, and pressure-relief scenarios.

Experience and Skills

• 10 to 12 years of experience in the oil and gas sector.
• At least 8 years of experience in the role of Senior Process Engineer.
• Background in process optimisation, concept engineering, detailed design, commissioning, and start-up of oil and gas facilities is beneficial.
• Experience preparing feasibility studies and supporting project engineering will be an advantage.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.

Education

A B.Sc., B.Tech or B.E. degree in Chemical Engineering or Process Engineering is required.
