Role Summary
Reporting directly to the Director of Field Operations, the Site Superintendent plays a vital role in managing and coordinating all on-site activities throughout the construction phase. This role ensures projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and laborers.
- Comprehend subcontract agreements to confirm accurate scope understanding by all parties.
- Delegate responsibilities, provide clear direction, and monitor progress to guarantee adherence to timelines and quality expectations.
- Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to align with project objectives, blueprints, and specifications.
- Develop and maintain detailed construction schedules, ensuring logical sequencing and execution of activities.
- Deliver weekly progress updates with a six-week forward-looking plan to keep site tasks aligned with project schedules.
- Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings to streamline and organize site activities.
- Ensure Requests for Information (RFI) are addressed promptly to avoid schedule delays.
- Supervise construction procedures to comply with design, technical specifications, and industry norms.
- Regularly inspect work quality and rectify any deviations or defects.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in interpreting design drawings and blueprints.
- Implement rigorous safety measures to maintain a secure working environment for all staff on site.
- Manage budgetary aspects by tracking expenses, verifying invoices, and regulating costs without sacrificing quality.
- Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely material and equipment delivery on site.
- Serve as the primary contact for project stakeholders, providing consistent updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Keep detailed records of daily operations, issues, and decisions for comprehensive project documentation.
- Address unexpected issues swiftly and make informed decisions to maintain project momentum.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, regulations, and necessary permits.

Qualifications
- At least five years of experience in Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional (ICI) construction or a related field, preferably in a supervisory capacity.
- Extensive knowledge of construction methodologies, processes, terminology, and practices.
- Comprehensive understanding and application of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act relevant to projects.
- Capability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project plans accurately.
- Familiarity with Lean Construction practices.
- Proficient in construction management software and digital tools.
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project software.
- Journeyman Carpentry Certification and/or Gold Seal Certification preferred.
- Knowledge of Salus Safety Software, Procore, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) applications is advantageous.
Work Environment
- Mainly based on construction project sites.
- Travel to various construction locations expected.
- Exposure to typical construction environments through all seasonal conditions.
