Overview

The Shipper/Packer role involves providing expert technical assistance to staff regarding preservation, packaging, and packing processes. This includes guidance on applications, modifications, and procedural methods pertaining to these areas. A strong command of English is essential for effective communication in this position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Identify and solve complex issues related to preservation, packaging, and marking techniques.
• Securely block and brace a wide range of military equipment and supplies.
• Evaluate and analyze packaging and preservation programs to ensure their effectiveness.
• Initiate updates and improvements in packaging methods, requirements, and procedures.
• Develop and establish standardized packaging operating procedures for employees.
• Provide employees with relevant updates on packaging regulations, including hazardous material packaging rules.
• Assess packaging inconsistencies and suggest necessary corrective measures.
• Advise on preservation methods when guidance is unavailable from existing data resources.
• Conduct research on packing materials considering technical performance, environmental impact, and cost factors.
• Interpret specifications and photographic documentation as needed per DLA contracts.
• Complete mandatory certification training related to packing and shipping hazardous materials every two years.
• Apply organizational policies and procedures to interpret and implement packaging guidelines effectively.
• Utilize knowledge of automated systems like DSS, HMIRS, FEDLOG, FLOS, and JHCS.
• Employ analytical and problem-solving methods to diagnose packing problems.
• Analyze diverse and sometimes unclear data to detect trends, resolve issues, and propose action plans.
• Stay current on new developments to maintain efficient packaging and preservation processes.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not include any supervisory duties.

Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or GED is a requirement.
• At least one year of experience in material handling, supply chain, distribution, inspection, or related fields.
• One year experience using woodshop tools, fabricating containers, or involved in framing construction, preservation, packing, or packaging.
• Proven ability to read blueprints and precisely measure for fabrication tasks for at least one year.
• Experience recognizing various materials used to construct wood containers.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be a Saudi national familiar with local safety regulations and government protocols within Saudi Arabia.
• Fluency in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Skilled in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, tugs, stock selectors, and related machinery.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Capable of functioning independently with minimal supervision.
• Efficient multitasking skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with meticulous attention to detail.

Physical Demands

The role requires occasional standing, walking, sitting, using hands to handle objects or operate controls, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, talking, hearing, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds.
