Role Overview
We seek an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in Düsseldorf. The role focuses on architecting and developing scalable, reliable applications that power one of Europe's largest automotive leasing marketplaces. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to craft long-lasting software solutions and influence the technical strategy and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to product teams by creating high-quality solutions favored by our users.
- Adopt an AI-centric approach across all software lifecycle stages: design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Engage directly with live codebases primarily involving TypeScript, Node.js, Next.js, or Java with Spring, leveraging generative AI tools to speed development and simplify systems.
- Develop and enhance AI-driven internal applications and workflows that aid engineers on a daily basis.
- Promote AI best practices, mentor teams on effective use of generative AI, disseminate knowledge on patterns, and establish AI-first work methodologies across engineering groups.
- Initiate, monitor, and optimize small-scale, data-driven experiments to validate approaches and standardize successful methods.
Qualifications and Skills
- Practical expertise in applying AI and generative AI technologies to boost developer efficiency, including code creation, debugging, documentation, and decision-making support.
- At least five years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production-level systems, preferably using PHP with Laravel and also TypeScript/Node.js/Next.js on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Proven proficiency with generative AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, or OpenAI Codex to enhance coding speed and quality.
- Experience integrating large language model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, Vertex AI, etc.) into software or developer tools.
- Strong communication skills to facilitate adoption of novel tools, persuade stakeholders, address skepticism, and iteratively improve processes.
- A growth mindset with enthusiasm for exploring emerging practices, learning openly, and mentoring colleagues.
- Understanding of generative AI limitations and risks, capable of implementing safeguards including code review, testing, and policy enforcement for safe and compliant usage.
- Additional experience in performance tuning, caching, and system monitoring is advantageous.
