About the Role
This permanent, full-time position in Wellington City offers a unique blend of financial proficiency, portfolio analysis, and business partnership. The role supports investment decisions within MPI's Agriculture & Investment Services Directorate by converting financial and operational metrics into clear, actionable insights that aid governance, forecasting, and strategic planning. It also focuses on enhancing reporting infrastructures and fostering analytical skills organizationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial and fund performance reporting activities.
- Produce insightful portfolio reports and executive summaries.
- Support processes related to budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing variances.
- Enhance data quality, reporting methodologies, and analytical tools.
- Collaborate with leadership on investment decisions and governance matters.
About You
The ideal candidate is a commercially savvy finance professional who excels with large datasets, streamlining reporting workflows, and distilling complex data into strategic business insights. Candidates may currently hold roles such as Chartered Accountant, Finance Business Partner, Management Accountant, Financial Analyst, or Senior Reporting Analyst.
Essential qualifications and skills include:
- Membership as a Chartered Accountant or equivalent financial expertise.
- Advanced skills in Excel encompassing complex modeling and analysis.
- Robust experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Proficiency with Power BI or comparable business intelligence platforms.
- Strong ability to translate intricate datasets into clear business narratives.

The Investment Programmes & Operations Directorate spearheads initiatives to foster economic growth, sustainability, and productivity throughout New Zealand's primary industries. Within the Business Support team, financial oversight, reporting, and performance analysis are integral to supporting Agriculture & Investment Services.
