Opportunity
Tonkin + Taylor is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager in Technology to steer important transformation work that supports the wider business plan and Pathway 2030. This role will be responsible for helping deliver a portfolio of technology changes, including cloud modernisation on Azure, cybersecurity and resilience initiatives, and integration work.
The position blends project leadership, governance, stakeholder coordination, change adoption, and benefits tracking to make sure technology spend creates tangible business impact. A major part of the job is connecting business and technology teams, turning technical work into clear commercial value, building adoption, managing interdependencies, and keeping delivery on track.
The ideal person will be practical, focused on outcomes, comfortable handling complexity, able to build strong working relationships, and capable of delivering in fast-changing environments.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of complex technology transformation projects, from planning through execution and reporting.
- Own the planning and delivery of major technology transformation initiatives.
- Create and maintain project plans, milestones, risk logs, dependency maps, budgets, and regular status reporting.
- Build business cases and define measures to track benefits.
- Make sure work stays aligned with strategic goals, approved business cases, and governance expectations.
- Serve as the main point of contact between business stakeholders, technology teams, vendors, and delivery partners.
- Bring stakeholders together, clear delivery roadblocks, and balance competing priorities.
- Promote business engagement, readiness for change, user adoption, and achievement of benefits.
- Provide clear updates on progress, risks, issues, financial position, and delivery outcomes.
- Coordinate external vendors, partners, and technical specialists.
- Contribute to technology assurance and risk oversight.
What you will bring
You should have substantial experience delivering technology and business transformation work, along with the ability to operate confidently in complex settings.
- At least 10 years of project management experience across technology and business change initiatives.
- A strong history of delivering complex technology projects and programmes.
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Project Management, or a related field.
- Professional project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, or something equivalent.
- Strong capability in project governance and delivery.
- Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to turn technical ideas into business outcomes.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience leading organisational change, adoption, and transition into business-as-usual.
- Resilience, adaptability, and comfort working through ambiguity.
- Solid knowledge of Microsoft Azure, including Azure DevOps.
- A genuine interest in helping businesses succeed through technology.
- Experience in engineering, insurance, fintech, consulting, professional services, or federated organisations will be an advantage.
