Role Overview
The Senior Planner (Commissioning) is tasked with creating and maintaining detailed project schedules for assigned projects. This involves regular updates reflecting project progress, delays, and changes to ensure effective management of timelines and compliance with contractual obligations. The planner supports project teams by tracking performance, recognizing risks, and mentoring junior planning staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project programmes at various stages including Tender, PCSA, Contract, Execution, Design, and Commissioning phases using scheduling software.
- Attend weekly internal project and planning meetings to coordinate progress and updates.
- Collect precise weekly progress data, recording accurate start and finish dates for activities.
- Incorporate and model any project delays or variations within the programme accurately.
- Provide detailed reporting to senior management highlighting project status, risks, and necessary escalations.
- Engage actively in strategic planning initiatives to enhance departmental objectives.
- Mentor and guide less experienced planners to foster their professional development.
- Participate in client meetings and workshops to communicate programme details and updates.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to integrate their timelines and status into the overall master schedule.
- Contribute to internal workshops and training to advance planning department capabilities.
- Conduct site visits regularly, aiming for at least one visit every four weeks per project.
- Report consistently to Lead Planners and the Planning Manager with project and programme insights.
- Correct scheduling discrepancies as instructed by lead planning personnel.
- Maintain thorough documentation and records within Primavera P6 and ACC systems.
- Provide various internal and external reports such as progress updates, EHRA, 4-week lookaheads, and critical path analyses.
- Adhere strictly to all planning department policies, standards, and procedures.
Requirements
- Proficient user of Primavera P6 with a strong commitment to advancing expertise in this tool.
- Comprehensive understanding of project scopes, construction methodologies, and associated risks within assigned portfolios.
- Thorough knowledge of project schedules, particularly critical path activities and their relationships.
- Experience or working knowledge in forensic delay analysis and delay modeling within Primavera P6.
