Role Overview
The Senior Analyst in Cash Optimisation is a pivotal position within the Banking and Financial Services Division, responsible for supporting the management of one of Australia's largest liquidity pools — the State's operating liquidity. This role involves analytical review of cash operations to identify risks, forecast borrowings, and maintain essential financial parameters through collaboration with agencies and key stakeholders including NSW Treasury Corporation and banking partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct commercial and financial analysis of the State's liquidity to manage risks effectively.
- Develop and maintain financial models tracking cash flow drivers and forecasting State borrowings.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations on funding needs and liquidity risks from a government-wide perspective.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with internal Treasury teams, agency counterparts, and external stakeholders to share knowledge and financial insights.
- Represent Treasury in various internal and external forums to communicate forecasts and assumptions about key financial drivers.
- Contribute actively to the State's annual budget process and support fiscal sustainability initiatives.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, business performance analysis, or commercial analysis.
- Proficiency in analyzing complex business challenges and constructing financial models to track operational drivers and cashflow risks.
- Strong interpersonal skills facilitating collaborative working relationships and knowledge sharing.
- A curious and inquisitive approach to identifying business challenges and delivering data-driven commercial advice.
- Capability to effectively communicate and represent Treasury interests in meetings and working groups.
