Senior Accountant

Role overview

This opening is for a Senior Accountant based in Kolkata within an accounting, taxation, and audit services environment. The position calls for someone who has handled work in a CA firm and can take ownership of accounting, tax compliance, statutory filings, audits, and client-facing deliverables with minimal supervision.

What you will do

• Independently maintain books of accounts for several clients.
• Draft and submit Income Tax Returns for individuals, firms, and companies.
• Oversee GST compliance, periodic return filing, reconciliations, and input tax credit-related work.
• Manage TDS compliance, reporting, and filing obligations.
• Prepare balance sheets, financial statements, and MIS reports.
• Coordinate and assist with statutory, tax, and internal audits.
• Take care of ROC filings and other regulatory compliance tasks.
• Support budgeting, financial analysis, and client advisory assignments.
• Interact with tax authorities and relevant government offices whenever needed.
• Guide junior staff and help ensure accurate, high-quality output.

Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in accounting, taxation, and audit work.
• Previous exposure to a CA firm is preferred.
• Comfort with preparing balance sheets and financial statements.
• Working knowledge of Income Tax, GST, TDS, audit processes, and ROC filings.
• Hands-on ability with Tally, MS Excel, GST portal, Income Tax portal, and MCA portal.
• Good understanding of Indian accounting standards and statutory compliance.
• Strong analytical ability, communication skills, and problem-solving approach.
• Preference for immediate joiners or candidates with a notice period of under 1 month.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Commerce or Accounting.
