About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Accountant specializing in General Ledger activities to join a reputable firm located in Abu Dhabi. This contract position spans two years, with the possibility of renewal. The working hours are structured over five days a week with nine-hour shifts, either from 9 AM to 6 PM or 10 AM to 7 PM.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage the financial closing process at month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
- Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger, including preparation of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Oversee project accounting tasks such as budget management, contractor accruals, and allocation of costs.
- Execute revenue recognition in accordance with IFRS 15, and handle treasury accounting, including reconciliations of multi-currency bank accounts.
- Manage fixed assets accounting, intercompany reconciliations, and facilitate both internal and external audit processes.
- Ensure adherence to applicable accounting standards, corporate policies, and deadlines for reporting.
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions monthly and coordinate with relevant counterparties.
- Work closely with the accounts payable team to reconcile supplier advances and retention payables.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; professional certifications such as CA, ACCA, or CMA are preferred.
- Have 5 to 8 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 to 3 years within the UAE or GCC real estate, property, or construction finance sectors.
- Demonstrate expertise in overseeing the full month-end closing cycle in complex, multi-entity, multi-currency environments.
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion ERP modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Projects/PPM, and Cost Management.
- Strong familiarity with IFRS standards including IFRS 15, IFRS 9, IAS 23, IAS 16, IAS 38, and IAS 21.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, capable of managing extensive datasets and performing detailed reconciliations.
- Preferably experienced with developer financing, escrow-funded projects, and project cost oversight.
- Knowledge of UAE Corporate Tax laws, VAT, and Abu Dhabi Real Estate Companies (ADREC) regulations is advantageous.
