Job Summary

The Screener role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant screening of checked baggage using advanced equipment and regulatory standards. The objective is to detect prohibited items or security threats, maintain equipment functionality, collaborate with security and airport personnel, and uphold professionalism during operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate X-BIS screening equipment to analyze baggage images for dangerous goods, prohibited articles, weapons, or ammunition, adhering to applicable guidelines and SOPs.
• Conduct physical inspections and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) tests for flagged baggage items.
• Maintain proficiency in Threat Image Projection (TIP) scoring to ensure sharp image interpretation skills.
• Strictly follow BCAS and DGCA aviation security directives during baggage screening and inspection.
• Document all findings and maintain records complying with audit and inspection standards.
• Perform routine equipment checks on X-BIS, ETD, CT-EDS, and other security devices; report malfunctions and support equipment registration maintenance.
• Collaborate with CISF, airline personnel, and other stakeholders during baggage inspections and issue resolutions.
• Provide supervisors with timely updates on screening operations and escalate issues when necessary.
• Complete baggage screening efficiently within set timelines to avoid disrupting airport operations while balancing thoroughness and speed.
• Maintain professionalism, discipline, and adherence to organizational conduct policies, contributing positively to the team environment.

Stakeholder Collaboration

Work closely with internal teams such as CSO, Lead Avsec Audit & Compliance, Terminal Operations, IT, HR, and Regulatory teams, as well as external entities including TSA, aircraft operators, airport authorities, law enforcement, and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Mandatory TSA certification; preferred certifications include BCAS AVSEC basic course, standalone/inline screeners certification, and DGCA DGR CAT 12 certification from approved centers.
• NCC “B” or “C” certificate holders are advantageous.
• Freshers or candidates with 1-2 years experience in security screening or similar roles, ideally in airport environments.
• Experience operating screening equipment and knowledge of security protocols preferred.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

• Visual acuity no worse than 20/60 in both eyes without corrective lenses or 20/20 in one eye and 20/30 in the other with correction; adequate color perception essential.
• Hearing loss below 30 dB for frequencies under 2000 Hz in each ear, as tested audiometrically.
• Clear and effective oral communication abilities.
• Physical mobility sufficient to perform tasks without significant impediments.
• Ability to detect odors related to security screening.
