Role Overview

The Scholarship and Communications Coordinator plays a vital role supporting CBM's Inclusive Health Initiative (IHI). This position is responsible for directing communication activities for IHI's programs and partnerships while managing scholarship programs end-to-end. The role involves close collaboration with universities, training institutions, government bodies, partners, and CBM teams to boost collaboration, share impact stories, and ensure smooth scholarship delivery.

This role is local-based within CBM’s permanent offices such as Lusaka (Zambia) and other African locations. The employment terms are aligned with respective country regulations, with no expatriate assignments intended.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive the planning and implementation of IHI's communications strategy across all programs and collaborations.
• Assist teams in sharing program milestones, impact narratives, and essential updates with internal and external audiences.
• Create diverse communications content including case studies, social media posts, website updates, and internal documentation.
• Support producing strategic thought leadership articles and other external materials.
• Manage all aspects of the scholarship lifecycle, including application processing, selection logistics, onboarding, documentation, and communication with trainees and educational institutions.
• Act as the central administrative and communications point connecting CBM teams, universities, partners, and government stakeholders.
• Ensure meticulous record-keeping—scholarship databases, contracts, academic progress tracking, and financial records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, International Development, or a related discipline.
• A minimum of seven years’ experience in communications, preferably within international development, healthcare, innovation, or entrepreneurship sectors.
• Proven skills in managing communication outputs with strong editorial and writing capabilities producing high-caliber external publications.
• Experience handling communications for multi-stakeholder partnerships or programs; prior involvement with scholarships or educational initiatives is a plus.
• Familiarity with digital communication platforms, social media, and content development tools.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in diverse multicultural teams.
• Proficient English language skills in writing and speaking.
• Commitment to the values of disability inclusion and safeguarding.
