Role overview
The Pursuits Strategist will support major high-priority opportunities within the Financial Services Sector and EY’s New Zealand practice. Working with a Strategic Pursuit Leader, this role focuses on the day-to-day coordination of pursuit work, including project management and proposal development, to help produce strong, client-focused submissions.
This is a 12-month parental leave contract running through May 2027. The position may be performed from any EY office in Australia or New Zealand. EY also notes that flexible arrangements, including reduced hours, may be possible depending on requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate major pursuit activity end to end, making sure proposals are delivered on time, stay aligned to the brand, and meet client expectations.
- Work with pursuit teams and internal stakeholders to shape persuasive value propositions and prepare client deliverables across the pursuit lifecycle.
- Guide engagement teams, share effective practices, and help improve pursuit processes across the organisation.
Skills and experience
The role calls for strong project management capability, the ability to manage several deadlines at once, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A solid grasp of design and production workflows is important, along with confidence using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
EY is looking for candidates with at least 6 years of experience in a sales or marketing setting, including substantial bid management or bid coordination experience; experience in professional services is considered an advantage. The team also values the ability to influence without formal authority, build productive relationships, think creatively, solve problems, show initiative, and adapt quickly in fast-moving environments. Experience in coaching or mentoring others is also desirable.
What EY offers

- Flexible work arrangements designed to support work-life balance.
- A benefits package that includes a yearly wellness incentive.
- Access to up to 8 additional weeks of flex leave per year.
- Family-friendly policies, including up to 26 weeks of gender-neutral paid parental leave.
