Project Manager - Oil & Gas CAPEX Projects

About the Role

Janikin Energy is assisting an international engineering firm in recruiting an experienced Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of small to medium CAPEX projects at an operational oil and gas terminal located in Frankfurt, Germany.

This role is ideal for a bilingual (German and English) Project Manager with a solid engineering background and a track record of successfully delivering brownfield projects within sectors such as oil and gas, refineries, petrochemicals, terminals, and tank farms.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead projects from initial planning through to commissioning and formal handover.
• Define project scopes in collaboration with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Develop and implement comprehensive Project Execution Plans.
• Manage EPC, EPCM firms, engineering consultants, and contractors.
• Supervise design, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, risk management, and regular project reporting.
• Assist in tender processes, contractor selection, and commercial evaluations.
• Ensure adherence to HSSE, quality, and technical standards.
• Coordinate HAZID, HAZOP, constructability, and operability reviews.
• Guarantee project delivery that meets safety, timeline, budget, and quality expectations.

Experience and Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of project management experience.
• At least 6 years' experience specifically within the oil and gas industry.
• A strong engineering or technical background is essential.
• Proven track record in executing brownfield CAPEX projects.
• Experience working with terminals, depots, tank farms, refineries, petrochemical, or chemical processing facilities.
• Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
• Excellent skills in contractor and stakeholder management.
• Complete project lifecycle experience including commissioning and handover.
• Fluency in both German and English required.
• Availability to work predominantly on site in the Frankfurt region.

Additional Information

• This freelance contract is preferred, offering an indicative daily rate between €500 and €600.
• The position is full-time with the majority of work conducted on site.
• Several ongoing CAPEX projects to manage simultaneously.
• Travel within Germany may be necessary.
• Ideal candidate will have experience handling a portfolio of around 10 to 15 smaller CAPEX projects in an operational environment.
