About MGI Construction Corp.

MGI Construction Corporation is a multi-disciplinary construction firm with extensive experience across four primary divisions: Environmental services (including asbestos removal and soil remediation), Demolition (concrete recycling and asset recovery), Earthworks (excavation and grading), and Heavy Civil works (installation of storm and sanitary systems, watermain and roadworks).

Position Overview

The Project Coordinator role supports project managers by overseeing and coordinating daily project operations. This leadership position holds responsibility for project outcomes including cost control, scheduling, quality assurance, and compliance with corporate standards. Candidates should expect a weekly workload of 40 to 50 hours, typically from 7 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for overtime, weekend, or evening work depending on project demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project schedules aligned with milestone targets to ensure on-time completion.
  • Prepare project and financial forecasts, identify risks and opportunities to optimize schedule adherence and financial results.
  • Establish and maintain project budgets, oversee billing, and collaborate with accounting to facilitate prompt payments.
  • Track and report on financials and project performance regularly (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
  • Ensure construction activities are executed according to approved plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Administer procurement activities including negotiation and awarding contracts to subcontractors, trades, and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with pre-construction teams in planning project rollouts.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possession of reliable transportation, such as a G-class driver’s license.
  • Clear and direct communication skills.
  • Proficiency with technology including MS Office®, AutoCAD®, and project management software.
  • Keen attention to details.
  • Leadership capabilities in risk assessment, contract negotiation, and pricing strategy.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry.
  • Active teamwork and engagement with project stakeholders.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid or willingness to obtain certifications: WHMIS, Elevated/Aerial Work Platform, and Working at Heights/Fall Arrest.
  • Educational background in construction or equivalent qualifications.
