ജോലി വിവരണം
About the organisation
The Climate Change Commission is an independent statutory body created under the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Act 2019, which updated the Climate Change Response Act 2002. It provides expert advice to the Government on reducing emissions and adapting to climate change, and it also tracks and assesses progress toward the country’s emissions reduction and adaptation goals.
The Commission is looking for an experienced and driven Project Coordinator to join its Programme Management Office in delivering some of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant climate-related work. The PMO is a small, collaborative team that supports planning and monitoring across advice and evidence programmes.
About the role
This position is suited to someone with prior experience coordinating projects or business/advice work, strong relationship-building ability, and a practical approach to planning and organisation. A strong appreciation of tikanga Māori-led ways of working is important, along with an interest in improving how project management is carried out across the organisation.
The team is also exploring how Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled tools can be used responsibly to improve delivery. The successful person will help streamline planning, reduce repetitive administrative work, and strengthen reporting and communications through approved and appropriate use of these tools.
What you will do
- Coordinate project plans, timelines, milestones, and follow-up actions.
- Work alongside Project Directors and project teams to keep delivery on track.
- Arrange and support workshops, meetings, and external engagement activity.
- Prepare clear and professional project documents and reporting material.
- Track budgets, risks, and issues across projects.
- Contribute to better project practices by improving templates, tools, and team ways of working, including the appropriate use of AI for approved purposes.
What we are looking for
The Commission is seeking someone who can handle several projects at once, communicate well with a wide range of people, and work confidently in a complex environment. Experience with project methodologies, risk management, quality controls, and Microsoft 365 tools is important, along with familiarity with Microsoft Copilot and AI tools.
You should also understand Te Tiriti o Waitangi, te ao Māori, and have experience engaging with Iwi/Māori. The Commission places importance on Te Ao Māori and on reflecting Māori perspectives accurately in its work.
Working environment and location
The role is based in the Commission’s central Wellington office, and there is a preference for a Wellington-based candidate. The team works in a diverse and inclusive environment and welcomes applications from people of all backgrounds.
What we offer
- A chance to contribute to meaningful work for Aotearoa New Zealand.
- A workplace in central Wellington with harbour views.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Five weeks of annual leave.
Pay and application details
The expected salary range for this position is NZD 78,000 to NZD 98,000 per year, depending on skills and experience.
Applications must be submitted through the online recruitment process via the Central Agencies Jobs website. A detailed position description is available there. Applications close at 9:00 pm on Wednesday 22 July 2026. For enquiries, contact [email protected].
Interviews may begin before the closing date if suitable candidates are identified. Applicants must already have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
Additional information
The Commission encourages applicants from all backgrounds and is committed to equality and equity. Its current work includes planning, advising on, and monitoring responses to climate change in Aotearoa New Zealand.
