Job description
Overview
Based in Dunboyne, County Meath at the Paving and Walling site, the Production Supervisor reports directly to the Plant Managers. The core objective is to ensure staff adhere strictly to health and safety protocols while maintaining high productivity levels. The role involves supervising plant operators, ensuring equipment efficiency, and effective communication with management regarding production performance and challenges.
Shift Details
- Evening Shift: 4pm to 12am
- Night Shift: 12am to 8am
Health & Safety Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety training, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and risk assessments among all operatives.
- Conduct toolbox talks with shift teams as needed.
- Facilitate maintaining training standards by communicating safety information and SOPs.
- Report all health and safety incidents including accidents, near misses, and observations, and follow through on assigned observations.
- Ensure all employees consistently wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform first aid inspections in supervised areas.
- Maintain exemplary housekeeping standards across plant areas and welfare facilities including changing rooms, toilets, and canteens.
People Management
- Track employee attendance and report concerns to the Plant Manager.
- Review operator performance and support additional training requirements.
- Manage absenteeism by reallocating operators across shifts if necessary.
- Report any behavioral issues of operators to management.
- Oversee operator performance during plant breakdowns with a focus on utilising downtime for maintenance and machine repairs.
Production Duties
- Work towards achieving all production goals.
- Manage operatives during plant downtime, overseeing TPM activities, cleaning, and other tasks set by plant managers.
- Coordinate effective maintenance responses to plant breakdowns, involving operators where possible.
- Manage inventory of cement, pigment, admixtures, and aggregates ensuring sufficient supplies and reporting stock shortages.
- Communicate with loading shovel drivers regarding low raw material levels.
- Conduct regular plant and environmental inspections and document findings.
- Ensure monthly TPM checks are completed on each shift.
- Supervise preparations for mould and product changes to ensure smooth transitions.
- Monitor and improve mould change and raw material replenishment processes.
- Complete end-of-shift reports detailing operator or production issues, health and safety observations, and raw material concerns to facilitate smooth handovers.
Quality Assurance
- Ensure consistent quality checks on all products including height, moisture, density, and sampling.
- Monitor product quality, identify issues, and guide operators on corrective measures.
- Ensure teams adhere to quality procedures when defects are reported, including isolating and quarantining affected products and setting up new batch numbers.
Additional Duties
The listed responsibilities are not exhaustive; the Production Supervisor may be asked to perform other duties aligned with the job's level within the company.
