Job description
Role Overview
Based at the Chipping Norton Delivery Office (OX7 5SS), this permanent contract position offers a full-time opportunity delivering letters, parcels, and important mail items in your community. Working hours total 37 per week over a five-day rotating schedule across Monday to Sunday, typically from 07:30 to 16:00. Overtime pay is available.
Key Duties
- Sorting mail and parcels efficiently at the delivery office to prepare for your route.
- Delivering post locally using a Royal Mail van and on foot, regardless of weather conditions.
- Engaging with customers to foster positive relationships during deliveries.
- Handling a variety of mail including exam results, cards, business orders, and essential documents.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Physically demanding and fast-paced, involving walking up to 12 miles and driving a Royal Mail van daily.
- Exposure to all weather types and managing time-sensitive deliveries, especially during peak periods.
- Required to work a minimum of two Sundays out of four in a rostered cycle.
Candidate Profile
- Valid full UK manual driving license with no more than six penalty points, registered to current name & address.
- Ability and willingness to drive the Royal Mail van and pass a driving assessment.
- Physical fitness to walk long distances, climb stairs or hills, and carry mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Self-motivated, reliable, organized, and able to maintain resilience in a fast-moving workplace.
- Customer service orientation and comfort working outdoors and independently.
