Job description

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to perform blood sample collections from patients across all age groups and ensure proper handling and processing of specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect venous and capillary blood samples from patients of varying ages.
  • Conduct scheduled home visits for blood sample collections.
  • Confirm patient identification and verify test requisition forms before sample collection.
  • Label, package, and transport specimens following laboratory guidelines.
  • Ensure proper sample collection, storage, and dispatch to the laboratory on time.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and input patient details into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Adhere strictly to infection control, biomedical waste disposal, and safety procedures.
  • Keep the sample collection area clean and maintain sterilization standards.
  • Monitor and report inventory of collection supplies such as vacutainers, needles, syringes, and gloves.
  • Collaborate with laboratory technicians and customer support teams to facilitate smooth sample processing.
  • Interact professionally and empathetically with patients addressing their concerns.
  • Ensure zero sample rejection due to errors in collection or labeling.
  • Follow NABL accreditation guidelines, internal SOPs, and quality control measures.
  • Support corporate health camps, health check-ups, and community screening events when needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Possess DMLT, MLT certification, or a Diploma in Phlebotomy.
  • Have 1–3 years of experience in a diagnostic lab or medical facility; freshers with strong practical skills will also be considered.
  • Proficient in venipuncture and capillary blood drawing techniques.
  • Well-versed in specimen handling and transportation protocols.
  • Understanding of NABL standards and laboratory SOPs.
  • Basic computer skills including experience with LIS software systems.
  • Good communication and patient interaction abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accurate documentation.
  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel for home-based sample collection assignments.
  • Ownership of a two-wheeler and valid driver’s license are preferred.
  • Flexibility to work in rotational shifts, on weekends, and during public holidays as required.
