Role Overview

The Payroll Officer will be responsible for end-to-end payroll activities across employee life-cycle changes, statutory compliance, leave-related payouts, allowances, deductions, and employee queries. The position requires strong accuracy, sound payroll knowledge, and the ability to meet strict deadlines while handling sensitive information with discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Run payroll for new hires, including workflow validation, unlocking where required, and making sure the first salary is paid on time.
  • Handle payroll for employees who are leaving, including cessation processing, removal of fixed allowance advice from the line department, stopping salary payments, recording deductions or payments listed in resignation letters, checking CPF computations, submitting IR21 for tax clearance for foreign employees, preparing final pay, drafting salary recovery letters, and issuing salary statements to former staff.
  • Carry out salary revisions for existing employees, including pay changes due to promotions, confirmation, and contract extensions.
  • Make sure salaries are withheld and released correctly whenever required.
  • Administer government-paid leave arrangements such as maternity leave, paternity leave, shared parental leave, and childcare leave.
  • Process NS Make-Up Pay claims.
  • Update allowances and deductions in bulk through Fast Entry transactions, including variable items such as overtime claims and flexi staff earnings and deductions.
  • Act as backup for the assigned buddy during absence and answer payroll queries promptly and professionally.

Requirements

  • At least 1 to 2 years of payroll experience with a solid understanding of the payroll processing cycle.
  • Working knowledge of payroll systems and strong Excel skills.
  • Understanding of Singapore’s Employment Act, CPF Act, and Income Tax Act.
  • Self-driven, able to work independently with minimal supervision, and capable of managing several payroll deadlines.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Very accurate, careful, and detail-oriented.
  • Prior exposure to high-volume data processing is preferred.
  • High standards of integrity and strict respect for confidentiality requirements.
  • Effective written and spoken communication skills.
